QUESTION:
After installing on Windows XP, I get an error message reporting:
An error occurred running the extra installer \setup.inx Please check if the software is already installed. If not, contact OPNET Technical Support. Error code = -2147024891; error text: Access is denied.
ANSWER:
Users of Windows XP may get this error message, due to an issue with Microsoft Windows Update HotFix Q328310 that causes an incompatibility with InstallShield.
You will find that all of the software has been successfully installed and you can safely ignore this message, but Microsoft does have a patch.
You can download the Microsoft fix from the following link. (Be aware that the patch is listed on the Microsoft Website as fixing a problem with DVD players, but the problem does affect InstallShield negatively).
